New Orleans, LA

IPED's annual Green Homes and Sustainable Communities conference was recently held in New Orleans, LA.  Presented by Enterprise Green Communities and Nixon Peabody LLP, the conference brings together green building professionals from across the United States, providing a forum for exchanging ideas on sustainable design from tax credits to cutting edge prefabricated housing.  Speakers included leaders from Enterprise, Make It Right Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Advanced Energy, LivingHomes, and Cascadia GBC.

Prior to the conference, Enterprise hosted a tour and workshop for its Technical Assistance Providers that TightLines was honored to attend.  The tour featured single and multi-family projects under way in New Orleans, many of which are being built by non-profits.  The work exhibited many new strategies for creating high performance (and affordable) buildings from construction to occupancy.  Through the immediate need for high quality, durable, and sustainable housing options, the city of New Orleans has been a ripe testing ground for new technology.
