The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has established a Green Technical Assistance (TA) Corps. Through this pilot initiative, experts on energy efficiency and green building will provide direct technical assistance to HUD grantees. This initiative is focused on supporting HUD grantees with technical assistance to incorporate green building and energy efficiency practices in daily operations and maintenance, as well as in new construction, rehabilitation, and retrofit projects. Preference will be given to HUD grantees seeking to incorporate energy and water conservation measures to ultimately achieve utility and cost savings.
Don’t delay! Requests for technical assistance will be accepted on a rolling basis through November 16th. Notifications will be sent to approved Technical Assistance recipients no later than December 7th, 2012. All Affordable Green Technical Assistance should be completed by February 2013. Applications for TA will be reviewed based on demonstration of need, demonstrated connection to utility and cost savings, and commitment to implementing green development/operations practices beyond the receipt of TA.*
